BLOOD TRACKS (DVD) Hills Have Eyes type slasher by Mats Helge

This one is pretty rad and luckily it has cool enough cover art to live up to the film.  Starring a real life Swedish glam metal band, this flick pours on heaps of classic '80s cheese while also making it hype by setting the film in an epic location - an abandoned factory high up in the snowy mountains.  Directed by Sweden's number one (only?) action director, Mats Helge.........

BLOOD TRACKS (1985)

A Swedish glam metal band travel into the frozen north to shoot part of a music video near a huge, creepy, abandoned factory. Unbeknownst to them, a family of mutant hermits covered with festering sores, scuttle about like creatures amidst the worn out machinery, broken down furnaces and endless catwalks.

The band members, video crew, and entourage of groupie babes end up wandering though the abandoned factory when an avalanche stalls production of the video and leaves them stranded. The hermit family do not take kindly to trespassers though and the reign of murder, violence and abduction begins.

Director Mats Helge (The Ninja Mission) creates a pseudo slasher in the vein of The Hills Have Eyes that shows how the materialistic youth culture of the 80's turned their back on the traditions of industry. Stars real life hair band "Easy Action", who formed in Stockholm in 1982 and had a hit in Sweden with the song "We Go Rocking".

DEVIL'S GIFT, THE (DVD) supernatural suspense thiller with possessed monkey toy

This is a request we tracked down recently and glad to be able to add it to our Ghost and Occult selection of rare flicks.  I'm pretty happy with how the sleeve worked out as we were able to dig up some very cool source art, but if only Satan would appear in the film as he does on the cover....oh well......

THE DEVIL'S GIFT (1984)

An old widow tries to contact her departed husband with a Ouija board but fails and mistakenly summons an unwilling demon that comes to inhabit an antique wind-up monkey. The demon within the toy quickly orchestrates the demise of old women and destroys her house.

Years later, an 8-year old boy receives an antique toy monkey for his birthday. Strange things begin to happen, but are ignored until the boy has a close brush with death. Only then does his father realize the intensity of the evil powers that are lurking around. He must destroy the toy monkey before the powers of evil overtake him and his family.

This film of supernatural suspense is strikingly similar to Stephen King's short story "The Monkey", and supposedly lead to some legal action because of it. Also features a clever animated opening sequence.

JUNIOR (DVD) bizarre Canadian made exploitation slasher

This week we have a kind of post-women-in-prison flick that is part hicksplotation and part slasher.  Junior can not really be compared to Leatherface or Freddy like the old video box might suggest, but he is definitely a deranged retard that provides a lot of character to this rare piece of Canadian cinema history......

JUNIOR (1985)

Two sexy prostitutes are fresh out of prison when they meet up with their old pimp.  When he starts beating on them, the girls steal his car and set off on a life changing road trip.  They come across an abandoned marina and decide to stay, take it over and make a business out of it.

The girls soon encounter the corrupt town sheriff and some creepy locals including Junior, the village idiot.  Junior has a thing for fire, worms, rifles, knives, ropes, speedboats, and his psychotic mother. It isn't long before Junior has killed the girls dog and started to chip away at their house with his chainsaw.

This rare Canadian feature veers from one genre to the next but eventually settles on being full on horror in the end.  Jeremy Ratchford stars as Junior, who went on to star in almost every Canadian television series as well as Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven.

AKA - HOT WATER, A CUT ABOVE

INVINCIBLE BARBARIAN, THE (DVD) Franco Prosperi barbarian action

This film was a request we got not too long ago that we tracked down.  Made before "Throne of Fire", this is Franco Prosperi's first time directing the genre and starts the legend of Gunan, the cheese ball rip-off of Conan, play by Pietro Torrisi aka - Peter McCoy.  The below death scene definitely gives you an idea of what you are getting into.........

THE INVINCIBLE BARBARIAN (1982)

A peaceful countryside village is assaulted by a wild tribe, led by an evil blood-thirsty tyrant. Although they lay waste to the village, two baby boys are miraculously saved by a tribe of Amazon warriors.

The warriors train the two boys for future struggles. The stronger of the two is named "Gunan the Invincible" and it is his fate to avenge the annihilation of his people. Gunan stages a spectacular one-man war against the the evil marauders, but they prove a formidable adversary that won't go down without an epic battle.

Franco Prosperi directs this barbarian adventure with Pietro Torrisi and Sabrina Siani who teamed up with him again for "The Throne of Fire" and also starred in "The Sword of the Barbarians" together. In the spirit or recycling, the first 10 minutes describes evolution and ancient prophecy uses footage stolen right from Hammer Studios' 1966 film "One Million Years B.C.".

LAST MOVIE, THE (DVD) Dennis Hopper's infamous long lost film

This week we have a really rare one from the late great Dennis Hopper.  Even after it won best picture at the Venice Film Festival, Universal buried it after Hopper refused to recut it for its proper theatrical release.  Some will love this film, some will hate it, but regardless, it really is an experience like all great art and should experienced for yourself.  If you are a fan of Mr. Hopper, this is a must for the collection.........

THE LAST MOVIE (1971)

A crew of American movie makers come to Peru to shoot a western. The locals become mystified by the crew's amazing gear and create giant, non-functional bamboo versions of the film equipment. When the film wraps and the Americans leave, a stuntman stays behind to ineptly exploit the wilds around him.

The villagers start a cult and cast the stuntman to be in their own movie production. They seem to have failed to recognize that the deaths in the actual movie they saw being filmed were not real. In their "movie" when someone dies, he dies for real. Everything grows to a feverish pitch as civilization and primitivism poison each other as church and theatre become locked in a combustible embrace.

Dennis Hopper went to his grave insisting that this film was his own Citizen Kane. Alexandro Jodorowsky was an editing consultant as well, which seemed to add to the already trippy vibe. Look for Hopper's buddies Peter Fonda and Dean Stockwell, Eurocrime regular Tomas Milian, as well as Kris Kristofferson in his screen debut.

SEVEN MAGNIFICENT GLADIATORS, THE(DVD) Bruno Mattei directs Lou Ferrigno

We have dug up some more sword and sorcery for this weeks news release.  Well, more sword and sandal I guess since more muscle is flexed than magic. If you are a fan of Bruno Mattei, you will definitely want to add this one to the collection since he, like Fulci, didn't dable in this genre  for long......

THE SEVEN MAGNIFICENT GLADIATORS (1983)

The mighty barbarian Han wields his mystical Sword of Achilles, vanquishing evil that is spreading across the countryside of ancient Rome. Pandora, the courageous leader of a group of women, is seeking the one man who can free their village from the wicked Nicerote, who is half man, half god and completely evil.

As Nicerote leads his legion of soldiers in a merciless campaign of terror and murder, Han assembles a fearless group of seven in hopes to defeat him. The band of magnificent gladiators confront the seemingly invincible Nicerote on the field of battle in a colossal collision of muscle and steel.

Bruno Mattei (Shocking Dark, Robowar) and Claudio Fragasso (Troll 2, Zombie 4: After Death) double tag team direct this swords and sandal take on Akira Kurosawa's classic The Seven Samurai. Lou Ferrigno (TV's The Incredible Hulk) stars along side his wife Carla, as well as buxom B-movie queen Sybil Danning.

MORTUARY (DVD) rare slasher with Bill Paxton in early role

Getting back to some horror this week.  It is surprising this one hasn't had an official release considering how big a star Bill Paxton has become.  The trailer below is pretty funny because it has nothing to do with the movie and stars our favorite freakazoid Michael Berryman who doesn't even appear in the film............

MORTUARY (1983)

A young girl suffers from sleepwalking and terrifying nightmares ever since her father supposedly drowned in the family swimming pool. She knows his death was not an accident, but no one will believe her until her boyfriend sees the hooded figures she described in her dreams in the town's mortuary.

When she learns that her mother is a member of the cult taking part in black magic rituals at the mortuary, she begins to distrust everyone in her life. Is her mother trying to drive her crazy or is there a more sinister figure responsible for the recent murders? It is up to her boyfriend to save her before she ends up on the slab.

This entertaining slasher stars real-life husband and wife Lynda Day George (Pieces, Young Warriors) and Christopher George (Enter the Ninja, City of the Living Dead), but most notably has Bill Paxton giving an early over-the-top performance as a young, crazy mortician. The horror elements are nicely balanced with a few nuggets of delightfully droll black humor and the sunny locales are a refreshing change for the genre.

MORTUARY is available immediately and can be found in the Slasher Flicks section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.

STARSHIP (DVD) sci-fi adventure with military storm-trooper droids

Pretty funny one this week - but what it lacks in budget, it makes up in style.  Some of the costumes are pretty laughable though, with things like painted football helmets trying to be intimidating cyborg heads.  Roger Christian went on to bring L. Ron Hubbard's Battlefield Earth to the screen, so I was thinking this one might have be the warm up for failure - maybe there are some Scientology secrets in there somewhere..........

Note: Our print does not have these subtitles on screen

STARSHIP (1984)

Things are not going well on the mining planet Ordessa. The working conditions are awful, the workers are disgruntled, and the management is starting to crack the whip. An underground resistance movement is formed and led the young Lorca, and along with his droid and other rebel human workers, they vow to turn around the brutal regime.

Mining management hires an unscrupulous mercenary to get the situation under control. Guiding his arsenal of military storm-trooper droids, the evil bounty hunter is set on destroying the entire human work force to solve the problem. The rebel's only chance for survival is to put and end to evil reign of terror, and escape back to earth.

The film compensates its lack of budget by having more style that your average cheap sci-fi adventure. It's directed by Roger Christian who won an Academy Award for set decoration on director George Lucas's Star Wars: Episode IV, was art director on Ridley Scott's Alien, and directed one of the most notorious flops of the century, Battlefield Earth.

DEVASTATOR, THE (DVD) Vietnam vets vs. weed growing mercenaries

Back to some action this week.  This one is a short mega-blast of B-movie action by the late cult great Cirio H. Santiago.  Kind of a cross between Rambo and the A-Team, this film has even more  '80s action attributes that combine to make an darn entertaining romp.  The original Deathstalker's Richard Hill also stars as the main DEVASTATOR.....

THE DEVASTATOR (1986)

A Vietnam vet learns of the mysterious death of a close army buddy and travels to a rural California town to investigate. He soon discovers that fear and violence are a way of life in the town and the cause of terror is a psychotic owner of vast marijuana fields which are ruthlessly defended by an army of henchmen.

When the vet learns that weed mogul may be responsible for his pal's death, he assembles his closest war buddies: an electronics genius, an am munitions expert and the group's gung-ho strongman. The four band together to retaliate against the weed militia and all hell breaks loose as they fight back with all the cunning and firepower they can muster.

The prolific B-Action master Cirio H. Santiago (Equalizer 2000, Fast Gun) directs this western style story of good versus evil and combines it with explosive high-tech warfare. With it's one liners and funny dialogue along with the battery of bullets, grenades and bazooka shells, this is the kind of film that will please any fan of action.

THE DEVASTATOR is available immediately and can be found in the Eurocrime and Action section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.

WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM 1 and 2 (DVDs) hooray?!

We had more than a few requests for both of these unbelievable excursions into the land of cheese.  They are definitely in the sooo-bad-it's-perhaps-good category of film, so be prepared and have an arsenal of supplies to help with the intake of these beauties. On the other hand, maybe these are best left a childhood memory.........

WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM (1985)

The young son of a wizard flees his beloved kingdom after an evil magician kills the king and takes over the power of the realm. Schooled in the arts of magic, the boy wants to go back to save his people. First he must find the Ring of Magic and the Sword of Power if he is going to stand a chance.

Traveling together with his creature friend, an albino version of Chewbacca, they run into a lone warrior named Kor. Kor hasn't been very noble in his past and decides to turn a leaf and help the boy with his quest. The group continue on a long and devastating journey full of dangerous encounters on their way to the ultimate showdown with the evil wizard.

Director Héctor Olivera creates one of the cheesiest sword and sorcery adventures to ever come out of the '80s. Look for Bo Svenson (Inglorious Bastards, Thunder, Deadly Impact) as the mighty Kor and Thom Christopher (Hawk from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century) as the evil wizard, along with an early score by Christopher Young.

WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM II (1989)

Three fantastic kingdoms have been enslaved by evil tyrants and become the stomping grounds for giant man-rats, battling gladiators and tentacled monsters. It is all up to a young boy wizard, the Chosen One, who is charged with the perilous task of vanquishing the powers of darkness and freeing the kingdoms.

A bumbling old wizard helps guide boy as they search to find a hero in each of the kingdoms to represent their land. In order to restore peace, the gathered heroes must come together and fights alongside the young boy who is starting to become a powerful wizard in his own right.

The first film in this series seems like Citizen Cane in comparison, but there is an under-current of comedy attached to each and every scene that can make for more than a few laughs depending how drunk you are. Look for David Carradine (Kill Bill, Kung Fu) and Sig Haig (Hoouse of 1000 Corpses, The Aftermath) who both must have really needed some cash.

WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM 1 and 2  are available immediately and can be found in the Sci-Fi and Adventure section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.

TOUGHER THAN LEATHER (DVD) RUN DMC star in Rick Rubin's revenge flick

We have something very different this week.  This is one that I've been wanting to see since it was released back in the day in the theater and I never saw it available on video anywhere afterwards.  To me it seemed liked it vanished right after it came out - almost like someone is trying to forget it was ever made. But this is it!  A kind of New York style spaghetti western directed by the mighty Rick Rubin and starring the legendary RUN DMC at their height of success.  If you are a fan of the music and the people involved, you will not be disappointed......

TOUGHER THAN LEATHER (1988)

Trouble is just a beat away when RUN DMC are signed by Strut Productions, a small time music booking agency whose real purpose is to launder drug money. The band soon after hires their close friend Runny Ray to help out on tour, but he stumbles upon some shady business and is callously murdered.

With their friend's death covered up as a crack deal gone wrong and the case closed, the devastated musicians vow to clear his name. They take the law into their own hands and hit the streets to find and punish the people responsible for the murder, encountering racist bikers, blonde bimbos, and The Beastie Boys along the way.

Legendary music produced Rick Rubin co-writes, co-produces, co-stars, and directs this tight action revenge thriller and even gets his father Mickey to star as the mafia kingpin. Live footage of historic hip-hop proportions are throughout the film including RUN DMC, Slick Rick and The Beastie Boys performing "Scenario", a missing track from "License to Ill".

TOUGHER THAN LEATHER is available immediately and can be found in the Director' Lost Gems section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.

MOONTRAP (DVD) robotic alien creature feature with Chekov and Bruce Campbell

This week we have a pretty cool sci-fi flick that really does a great job on a smaller budget.  The aliens are pretty interesting where they make themselves bigger by using both spare mechanical parts as well as flesh parts from its victims, creating truly unique creature designs.  Throw in Chekov from Star trek and Ash from Evil Dead, you can't really go wrong........

MOONTRAP (1989)

NASA astronauts encounter a damaged alien space craft while orbiting the moon and discover inside it a mysterious alloy shell as well as the skeletal remains of humanoid that carbon dates to 14000 years old. The shell hosts a hostile robotic species with an incredible intellect that can use pieces from whatever is lying around to create a body so it can move about.

After returning to earth, the robotic monster goes on a rampage, laser blasting military personnel and anyone else in its way. When it is finally subdued, the astronauts go back to the moon to see if there's any other signs of life. They find the remains of a once thriving alien civilization that has been reduced to rubble. What they don't realize is that the species which left the humanoids dead so long ago have waited for the right kind of parts needed to juice up their ship and attack Earth.

Walter Koenig (Star Trek's Mr. Chekov) and Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead) star in this very entertaining sci-fi B-movie. Wacky, gory, and strangely humorous, it is also has impressive recreations of various equipment associated with NASA which is a testament to what you can do with ingenuity and creativity on a tight budget.

MOONTRAP is available immediately and can be found in the Sci-Fi and Adventure section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.

2020 TEXAS GLADIATORS (DVD) Joe D'Amato's post-apoc action with crazy cast

Sometimes a film comes along that is so great and such an awesome example of how amazing exploitation films can be that it makes me feel embarrassed that we have not had it in our available in our catalogue earlier for more people to have access to it.  This week we our very pleased to add another title from Joe D'Amato and one that has a cast representing a huge segment of the Italian scene at the time..............

2020 TEXAS GLADIATORS (1984)

The year is 2020 and the earth is a skeletal wasteland, born from the hell-fire of a nuclear holocaust. A barbaric army of road warriors battle for total domination with their ultimate target being a towering, super-fuel refinery, bristling with enough precious power to enslave the energy depleted planet.

But out from the atomic wreckage rises three invincible gladiators who are the last champions of civilization. They are unyielding in their moral code and willing to sacrifice their own lives so that the beleaguered many who can't fend for themselves will prevail. When they team up with a tribe of noble Native Americans, they charge on horseback in a rousing attack to challenge the evil regime and end the dark, imperial order.

Joe D'Amato reunites with crew members from Endgame for this grizzly post-apocalyptic action flick with help from assistant director Michele Soavi (Dellamorte Dellamore). The cast are the all-stars of Italian exploitation including Al Cliver (The Beyond), Harrison Muller Jr. (The Final Executioner), Peter Hooten (The Inglorious Bastards), Sabrina Siani (The Sword of the Barbarians), Gretta Gretta (Demons 2) and Donald O'Brien (Zombie Holocaust) as the over-the-top evil neo-Nazi.

INTERFACE (DVD) bizarre Atari age slasher with killer computer technology

This rare little flick from Texase is pretty fun if you are in the mood for some cheap laughs and a few thrills.  The way film uses the '80s technology available at the time will seem pretty hilarious compared to today standards, with the sight of floppy discs and descriptions of how computers work.  The villains all talking in their "Mr.Roboto" voices is nice touch too.........

INTERFACE (1985)

Beneath the serene campus of a university there are cavernous underground tunnels where a game of peril is being played. The object of the game is to eliminate the criminal element of society. It was meant to be an exercise in computer science, but now the fantasy has become reality and the objective has become an obsession.

A computer science professor suspects the untimely death of his prize student was no accident. Joined by the victim's widow, the two begin their investigation which leads to the discovery of a highly sophisticated computer game. The game unlocks the door to a world of terrorists obsessed with carrying out their master's will. It is game they must win since their lives depend on it.

This bizarre Atari age slasher has all has all the charm of naive 80's sci-fi movies, with big, bold letters sending big, scary messages on big, green computer screens. The premise seems pretty silly, but it moves along fast enough to make for a nostalgic fun ride. Look for Lou Diamond Phillips playing a punk at the beginning in his first feature appearance.

YOUNG WARRIORS (DVD) Animal House meets Death Wish revenge thriller

Here way have a very unique hybrid of a film and one that is definitely a great example of '80s film making.  Pretty dark and gritty at times (the tone, not he picture quality!), it is definitely one to have if you are fan of revenge films.  Also, the freaky dark animation sequence that the main character supposedly creates for his class are pretty trippy........

YOUNG WARRIORS (1983)

To date, the most violent acts a group of fun-loving frat brothers have been apart of has been popping beer cans and staging panty raids. Things change drastically though when the teenage sister of one of the boys is brutally raped and murdered by a street gang. College kids by day, the group become ruthless vigilante warriors by night, out for revenge.

The police are not moving fast enough with their investigation and even with body count increasing, no one can convince the fraternity brothers to leave it to the professionals. The intensity, violence and suspense builds as the Young Warriors race the police to close in on the killers and bring them their own brand of justice.

This rare '80s revenge thriller plays like a unique cross between Animal House and Death Wish, chocked full of violence and nudity, along with a very dark themed psychedelic animation sequence in the middle. Look for some familiar faces with Ernest Borgnine and Richard "Shaft" Roundtree playing the detectives and scream queen Linnea Quigley showing up as well.

YOUNG WARRIORS is available immediately and can be found in the Eurocrime and Action section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.

ELIMINATORS (DVD) Mandroid seeks revenge in crazy sci-fi B flick

I think a lot of people are going to be reminiscing with this one.  This was one of those films that if you saw it when it was released, you loved it, but somehow you have forgotten about it until NOW.  The cover alone is pretty epic, and it was one that was very hard to turn down when perusing the video store.  The movie itself though is so fun and seems really big for the actual budget that they had.  It truly is an example of the kind of film that would never get made in this day and age, and I'm thankful that we have one that we can enjoy without Hollywood thinking about a remake........

ELIMINATORS (1986)

As part of their experiments in time travel, a brilliant scientist and his assistant construct a "Mandroid" with the body of a pilot that was rescued from a plane crash. After the success of the initial experiments, the scientist decides to have the Mandroid scrapped, but his assistant helps the cyborg-being flee and is killed for his disobedience.

Mandroid goes off in search of someone who can help him with getting revenge on his creator. He hooks up with a female scientist and they enlist the aid of a jungle guide to help them with their travels. They add one more to their posse when they meet a ninja in the jungle who is on a revenge mission of his own. It is now up to them to stop the evil scientist and his plans to rule the world.

Director Peter Manoogian (Demonic Toys) directs this super fun sci-fi B-movie that is very ambitious in its scope, but somehow makes it work despite the budgetary constraints. The crazy cast of characters includes Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as the female scientist and Andrew Pine (V, V: The Final Battle) as the Mexican river-rat guide.

ELIMINATORS is available immediately and can be found in the Sci-Fi and Adventure section of the website.  If it is still listed as COMING SOON, please email us at revok@revok.com with your request and we can send you a customized invoice so you can easily pay by PayPal or credit card.
