FOXBAT (DVD) rare espionage action with Henry Silva

This was a great find - it is a rare Henry Silva flick from the late 70's that was co-directed by the veteran Bond franchise director Terence Young.  Even though it never came to US theaters, it apparently aired on CBS late night in the '80s.  Now you can see it in its full uncut format with this great Japanese print...........

FOXBAT (1977)

There is an international race to obtain blueprints of a MIG-25 "Foxbat" Soviet fighter plane which has landed in Japan.  An undercover U.S. spy (Henry Silva) has managed to take photos of the jet plans with a camera hidden in his left eyeball and now must get the microfilm back to his country. There are competing representatives from many countries trying to do the same thing to, and at one point there is even a super-secret auction of the plans.

The KGB is not taking this situation sitting down, and agents are dispatched to destroy the plans and anyone who has them. The search and destroy mission action moves from Tokyo to Hong Kong, as the US agent attempts to contact a man who can arrange for the proper delivery of the microfilm.

Inspired by a true story, this action-adventure thriller is co-directed by the great Bond franchise director Terence Young (Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Thunderball).  Although it never got to play on the big screen in the US, this rare high-budget Hong Kong feature is definitely recommended viewing for any fan of action and espionage.

FINAL EXAM (DVD) rare atmospheric slasher from 1981

We are finally switching over to a real blogging site - i guess it's the OG?  It seems the tools are way better and the feeds will hopefully stream to our site easier and not be the headache that is myspace.  enough whining already though!

This weeks release is a Japanese print of this ofter forgotten slasher made right at the height of the early eighties production overload - it was cast aside by many because of the smaller body count, but it is definitely worth a watch and a must for slasher fanatics....

FINAL EXAM (1981)

The semester is almost over and exam week is coming to a close at Lanier College.  A handful of students are staying on campus to finish their exams when some frat boys play a prank by staging a phony terrorist attack.

The next excitement in the school is far more critical than a prank though.  Students are falling pray to the a knife-wielding maniac that has absolutely no motive, an he is hell bent on making sure that no one gets out out of the school alive.

Not at your typical slasher from the era, director Jimmy Huston keeps the body count to a minimum while developing the characters, and the isolated campus location provides a spooky atmosphere.  When the killing gets going, it is staged perfectly, rapidly, with great suspense built it.

TORNADO (DVD) Antonio Margheriti vietnam action WIDESCREEN

We have managaed to locate a great print of yet another Antonio Margheriti film to round out our catalogue to carry 12 of his fims. Although not as great as Code Name: Wildgeese, or Commando Leopard, it is still a great feature full of all the Margheriti action you would expect.....

TORNADO (1983)

In the final days of the Vietnam War, an unhinged American Captain regularly sends his Green Berets on high-risk missions behind enemy lines. When a good soldier becomes a casualty from these maniacal missions, his Sergeant friend confronts the Captain and ends up heading to the stockade after the fight.

The soldier escapes from the authorities and sets out across enemy territory to reach neutral Cambodia . Meanwhile, a reporter tries to expose the Captain's madness and save the Sergeant from his fellow troops, which are now in hot pursuit.

Italian action master Antonio Margheriti directs this anti-war film and handles it in a realistic, straightforward way. With the help of Tito Carpi’s script, the characters are fleshed-out naturally while Margheriti keeps the action believable.

DEATH CODE: NINJA (DVD) Godfrey Ho ninja trash spy action

Sorry for the dealy in gettng this one up - for some reason Myspace has broke their RSS blog feeds again, so our updates are not going through to the main website. Last weeks release is an amazing widescreen print of a hilarious ninja action flick from the ninja trash master Godfrey Ho - enjoy!

DEATH CODE: NINJA (1987)

Power-obsessed nations plan to bring Asia under their control. The safety of the entire world hinges upon a valuable map which pinpoints locations of essential and secret, military facilities. The leader of a brutal Ninja commando organization possesses the map and the transaction with the power-hungry nations must be prevented at all costs.

The task force of the American secret service is ambushed by the murderous ninja clan and the head of the team is killed. Blind with fury over the brutal murder, an agent tries to get the map single-handedly while avenging his friends death at the same time.

Godfrey Ho directs another entry for his ninja trash portfolio, and again makes a fun flick that is hugely entertaining, provided that you don’t take it seriously. The fight choreography is rough and violent with many duels to the death and Rambo’s exploding arrowheads even make an appearance.
